Position Paper: Proposed Regulation on Data Protection

DPA publishes Position Paper on the Proposed General Regulation on Data Protection.

Members of the DPA Data Protection Subgroup gave a brief presentation to the European Internet Foundation event on Data Protection issues on 19th March in Brussels (https://www.eifonline.org/events/125-data-protection.html), based on key points as articulated in the paper.

The purpose of the Subgroup exercise was to conduct an analysis of the Commission's proposals, to assess the likely impact on a range of stakeholders, and to inform key decision-makers and officials in the European and UK parliaments of the findings.  The Paper contains a Summary of the key issues of concern together with Recommendations, and is also being circulated more widely to MEPs, UK Parliamentarians and senior government officials.

The Data Protection Subgroup is part of the Digital Single Market Working Group.
