The meeting report is now available from the Digital Single Market Group meeting held on Wednesday 6th May from 10.30 to 12.30 hours in Westminster, chaired by Malcolm Harbour CBE (former MEP and Chair of the Internal Market and Consumer Affairs Committee – IMCO).
A number of specific actions were agreed on completing submissions on key topics, with recommendations, to the Commission. It was further agreed that the DPA would submit a single document to the Commission, consolidating all the recommendations as a response to the issue of the DSM Strategy Proposal. More detailed submissions would be made as key implementing provisions are developed. It was proposed that the DSM Group would serve as a high level strategic forum supervising the work of 3 new specific working groups (subject to appropriate support and engagement from the DPA membership) which would focus on: a. Skills to support the Digital Single Market and international competitiveness. b. Data protection, data location and the free flow of data. c. Platforms, consumer issues and competitiveness.
The next DSM group meeting will take place on Tuesday 2nd June from 1030-1230 in Westminster. Please email [email protected] to request a place.
