Date(s) - 18/11/2015
13:30 - 15:30
The next meeting of the Digital Single Market Group will take place on Wednesday 18th November from 13.30 to 15.30 hours in Westminster, chaired by Malcolm Harbour CBE (former MEP and Chair of the Internal Market and Consumer Affairs Committee – IMCO).
The main purpose of the meeting is to invite views on how the EC Consultation on platforms should be managed, including those issues that might be better covered separately – there appear to be 4 different consultations. The Group will then discuss:
- issues that are not in the consultation, and agree which part(s) should be pursued by the DPA;
- identifying those areas on which the DPA wishes to construct a fuller response for submission before the end of 2015;
- any updates on the progress of key dossiers. This includes an anticipated broad strategy paper from the EC on the single market overall (not just the digital component).
A prior meeting that morning between Baroness Neville-Rolfe and a small delegation from the DSM Group led by Malcolm Harbour will discuss inter alia continuing uncertainties around data protection, data location and the free flow of data, as the debate on the General Data Protection Regulation remains in Council.
Please email [email protected] if you wish to attend and/or participate in the new working groups (on data location, platforms and skills). All DPA members & registered observers are invited, but room capacity is limited and places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. An agenda and venue details will be sent to registrants in due course.
This meeting is for DPA members and registered observers only. If you are interested in becoming a member we would welcome your attendance as a taster, but before any further participation, you would then need to join us.
