The meeting report is now available from the Digital Policy Alliance’s Age Verification Group meeting held on Friday 12th June, 14.30 to 16.30 in Westminster, hosted by the Earl of Erroll. DPA members and observers can access the report here…
The purpose of the meeting was to consider the revised Scope of the proposed Publicly Available Specification (PAS), and to establish a Steering Group. Industry members and other key parties, will be selected by BSI to ensure balance. The Group also needs to identify a lead supporter from the pool of supporters for the PAS. Funding will be required once the base document has been generated and confirmed.
The Group is focused on harnessing existing technologies to improve customer confidence at the same time as making it very much easier to meet regulatory requirements and improve consumer confidence. Media outlets are now reporting on the industry initiative for age verification checks under the umbrella of the DPA, e.g. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/technology-science/technology/want-watch-porn-online-you-5766008, although some articles conflate identity with age verification. Clearly, there is a lot of interest in the PAS proposal.
