Balance of Competences: MoJ Review of Information Rights

The Digital Policy Alliance has made a submission to the Call for Evidence regarding the MoJ's Balance of Competences Review on Information Rights.  The response is the result of extensive deliberations and consultations by the editorial team drawn from the Digital Single Market working group, headed by Malcolm Harbour CBE, MEP (Parliamentary Chair), Richard Ward (IBM, Industry Executive, Data Protection) and Carla Baker (Symantec, Industry Executive, Network and Information Security).

The Review is likely to have an important impact on the discussion of those legislative proposals on data protection still awaiting a final decision: it remains very much a live project under the new European Parliament and Commission, and any recommendations could be influential in determining the shape of the final legislation.  The DPA response will be published on the MoJ website, and made available for the EU Sub-committee.
